SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Symphony Orchestra was established upon the resolution of Ministry of Culture in 1957, having Namsraijav.Ts as its first chief conductor and Birvaa.G as its assistant conductor. The first official concert of the symphony orchestra was on Feb 25th, 1958, giving brilliant performances of the world’s finest composers orchestral masterpieces and continued promoting to our country’s development of culture and education through many records of music behind various shows as well as movies that still remain audiences hearts and memories after all these years.

The symphony orchestra makes its priority to give education through classical music to adults, and also to children and future generations. Thus, the orchestra hopes to delight audiences not only through various concerts but also television, radio and lectures about beauty and importance of music all throughout the country, expanding citizens’ knowledge and horizons.

The first ever concert of the Symphony Orchestra held at National Academic Drama Theatre marked the birth of classical music in Mongolia. Organized and conducted by Namsraijav.Ts, assistant conductor Birvaa.G, performing compositions of Murdorj.L, Damdinsuren.B, Chuluun.J as well as from classical legends, L.V.Beethoven and G.Bizet.

Structure

The symphony orchestra has Nyamdash Dashtseren working as its current chief conductor, Batbaatar Buriad and Anar Bayarkhuu working as its assistant conductors. The symphony orchestra has over 60 professional classical musicians, and also including chamber orchestra, string orchestra and ensemble of woodwind and brass, making it the biggest and leading Orchestra of Mongolia.
